Fun With Forms!

Image

Recently, our Venturer unit hit the town in a game of ‘Fun With Forms’. The aim of the game is to get as many points as possible. Points are awarded for pictures taken in front of specified places or things such as The Beehive or Readings Cinemas with the whole team and a bench, or ‘form’ in the photo. Points are deducted if the team is caught on camera by a leader and they are not all sitting on the form. It is somewhat of a tradition in this group and like every other time, a fun night was had by all.

Stadium fundraiser kicks it out the park again

All Blacks WinWhat a great job from the parents and senior Youth last weekend at the All Blacks vs Wallabies game doing one of our precious stadium fundraiser.  Looks like there’s another $800 coming our way after a very hectic evening.

I understand we ran out of several lines of drinks – but there were still a few of those plastic hotdogs left…. 🙁

Halfway to our rejuvenation fundraising goal!

After some sterling work by our Committee grants specialist (thanks Erina) we are the fortunate recipients of:

  1. $5,000 from Infinity Foundation for our basement projects
  2. $4,000 from Four Winds for our basement and kitchen projects.

This takes us to $39,000 out of our target $80,000 to do our total hall rejuvenation wish list. Awesome.

An update on the basement project will be up shortly (it’s been cleared and tidied and is now ready for work to begin).

Gang show update & performing arts camp

There is quite a lot of Gang Show and related activity going on at the moment.

Gang Show 2014

Much work has been going on behind the scenes over the last few months putting the new show together.   An outline (based on the theme “The Game” – hint think video games) is well underway and we’re now into developing the details.  The Production Team is confident that it is going to be another great one with plenty of new innovations!

Dates for the show, auditions, rehearsals etc:

  • Auditions: Saturday 10 May and Sunday 11 May 2014
  • First Rehearsal: Monday 2 June 2014 (Queens Birthday Monday)
  • First Camp: 20-22 June 2014
  • Second Camp: 29-31 August 2014
  • Performances: Monday 22 September – Saturday 27 September 2014.

 2014 Performing Arts Camp

This awesome camp  will be held at Brookfield on the weekend of 21-22 September 2013.  This is our Gang Show Camp between Gang Shows so we hope to see you there!

The Performing Arts Camp is open to any Cub, Scout, Guide, Ranger, Venturer, Rover or Leader (who is 9½ years of age or older at the time of the Camp) who wants to enjoy a weekend of singing, dancing, acting, and Gang Show camp fun.  No previous experience is required and people who have never been in a Gang Show are encouraged to come and check it all out.

Of course if you have been in Gang Show before then you will definitely want to come, relive the memories and catch-up with your friends from the Gang.   The Camp includes sessions on the various things involved in theatrical productions as well some singing, dancing and drama activities.  It might even include some sneak peaks at some material planned for the 2014 Show!

The cost is $37 and numbers are limited so applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.  Applications close Friday 6 September 2014.
