How to Join
The best way to find out if Scouting is for you, is to come along and take part in a section meeting appropriate to your age (Keas, Cubs, Scouts, Venturers or Rovers), or join in an event. Chat with the Scouts to find out about what goes on, and ask what you need to do to become a Scout.
What it costs – Brooklyn Scouts 2021
There is an annual fee that contributes for the upkeep of the Scout Hall and our equipment, electricity, insurances and includes a levy which we pay to the Scout Association of NZ. Currently this is
- $370 Kea Family Member
- $420 Cub, Scout or Venturer Family Member
- 2 or more family members – 10% discount or as agreed by discussion
The fees are pro-rata based, if you start in term 2 it will be 75%, term 3 – 50% and term 4 – 25% of the above fees.
A $50 rebate will be available for youth members and/or their parents who contribute 4 hours to support fundraising activity for the Group.
Expected non-cash support
Of course, even our running costs are higher than our subscriptions income – we rely on fund-raising and adult helpers to make the Group run. Read about the minimum expected levels of parent support we ask for, and additional ways you can contribute to the Group.
