How to Join

Join

The best way to find out if Scouting is for you, is to come along and take part in a section meeting appropriate to your age (Keas, Cubs, Scouts, or Venturers).

Please follow the ‘join’ process beforehand as this is where emergency contact details etc. are recorded and how we record attendance. The first four weeks are free.

What youth membership costs – Brooklyn Scouts 2025

There is an annual fee to cover the Scouts Aotearoa national levy combined with a modest  financial contribution going to the Group (which helps with our running expenses). Group fundraising covers the rest of our basic outgoings. Activities (camps, tramps, commercial activity visits etc.) are charged separately. Parents/ caregivers are encouraged and supported to fundraise* to support the Group and minimise activity costs – especially for large events. The annual membership fee for 2025 is

  • $440pa Kea, Cub, Scout or Endeavour Venturer youth Member
  • 2 or more family members – 10% discount or as agreed by discussion

The fees are pro-rata based, if you start in term 2 it will be 75%, term 3 – 50% and term 4 – 25% of the above fees.

*Families who contribute more than 8 hours to fundraising activities will be eligible for a $100 rebate, paid at the end of the year. Families who contribute more than 4 hours but less than 8 hours will be eligible for a $50 rebate.

To recognise the contribution made by kaiārahi, their children will not be charged membership fees (subject to regular attendance of kaiārahi).

Financial support is available. Confidential enquiries can be made to our Group Leader, John Morrison, at [email protected]

Expected family volunteered time/ non-cash support

Of course, even our running costs are higher than our subscriptions income – we rely on fund-raising and adult helpers to make the Group run.  Read about the minimum expected levels of parent support we ask for, and additional ways you can contribute to the Group.
