Tonight we painted fingernails, designed badges and iced biscuits after a discussion relating to things Pride: Diversity, Accessibility &. Honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi. We were also visited by our new Zone Kairārahi Regan (who we roped into judging the nails!)

Adults volunteering
All adults at Brooklyn Scout Group are volunteers! The group relies on volunteers to run the Section nights & camps etc. and to fundraise for us! Here is part of a fundraising team at our main money earner – running a bar at the Sky Stadium. Lately we have been struggling to find enough volunteers and have had to pass up some lucrative opportunities – which is frustrating!
Please volunteer a few hours of your time for either sports games or music concerts. It’s fun and you will get to see the last part of whatever show or game is underway. Keep an eye out for the next email calling for volunteers please!
Fire lighting
It was another great night, so we did what all scouts love – lighting fires & roasting marshmallows (everyone went home smelling very smokey!)
Lashings – a traditional scouting activity with a team building twist
Once we’d lashed up ladders (and the less fearful had climbed past a sensible height), we built a frames and used the team to ‘walk’ them – which required more cooperation than some teams could easily muster! Once we’d finished the night, we ended with a human knot game
Scavenger Hunt
It was a beautiful still evening tonight – so to make the most of it we headed outside in teams with the challenge of locating places, things, and answering a random bunch of questions. Here we are undertaking a review after ranking the teams.
