Stop, look, and listen: Keas explore road safety and public courtesy!

This week our humans did another Kea requested topic: road safety! We played some games and did some first class acting out scenarios about how to interact with different members of the public while on the footpath, which lead to both laugher and learning! Breaking into our posses the Keas practiced independent road crossing in various parts of the area, and demonstrated our safety so well that we had enough time to take our safety glow sticks back to the hall for some fun!

Keas get crafty with crystals!

This week the keas learned about making crystals and had a blast mixing together our ingredients that will ‘climb’ up their cups over the coming weeks with the help of some sunshine. We also welcomed newest Kaiārahi Kayla to the troop who lead us in a series of fun games to round off the evening. Welcome Kayla!

Survival

Our beach night retreated to the hall after the ‘Southerly’ kept up delivering cold wind and rain to Princess Bay?

Our youth gave presentations on water, hypo/hyper-thermia and shelters carried out some challenges including how to dry/ warm your clothes with a rubbish bag and a candle…!?

Keas learn about animal care

This week we had three very special (very furry) guests along to meet our keas! After learning all about care and safety for a variety of pets our keas put their new skills to the test walking, cuddling, and practicing tricks with our three furry friends.
