What do you get when 18 Scouts each bring a tin of food, and someone peels all the labels off and redistributes the tins among four teams to ‘cook’? Well, you get some pretty random combinations, most of which were bearably edible… but that didn’t stop some convincing sales pitches about the merits of each meal!
Crafting up a corner
Tonight we spent time decorating the ‘Scout corner’ of the hall
SCARVES AND BADGES AND MARSHMELLOWS, OH MY!
Our keas wrapped up the term with a celebration of our five newest keas and a series of badges for everyone by toasting some marshmallows and having a good old fashioned dress up night
Fundraising
We rely on our Adult Volunteers to help us fundraise, so our youth can have fun adventurous experiences – like going to a Jamboree! One ‘valuable’ activity we undertake is running a bar at Sky Stadium – here is one of the volunteer teams waiting for the crowds to arrive at a recent FIFA Women’s World Cup match.
These are fun events and a chance to meet other parents/ carers and supporters of Brooklyn Scout Group! This night turned out to be particularly busy – adding another dimension to the experience!
Thank you so much to everyone contributing to our fundraising efforts!🥳👍🏽😇
The 25th World Scout Jamboree (August 1–12, 2023)
Today we farewelled three Brooklyn youth (and one Kaiārahi) as they flew off to meet up with 65 other 14-18 year old youth attendees (from all around NZ), before heading off to Saemangeum, North Jeolla, South Korea! There, they will join some 40,000 other youth in the World’s largest youth event! Exciting eh!?
World Jamborees roll around every four years, and are pretty life changing experiences. They offer huge opportunities for personal development and self growth. We wish them well!
